Horizontal Alignment

Project Setup and Surface Creation

1. Open a New Project in your CivilCAD software.

2. Import Topography and Breaklines:

   • Use the Surfaces chapter instructions.

   • Ensure breaklines are correctly assigned to maintain surface accuracy.

   • Verify the surface is generated and visible in the model space.

Create or Import Road Centerline

3. Create Road Centerline:

   • Option A: Import from a DWG file.

   • Option B: Manually draw using the Polyline command.

Define Horizontal Alignment

4. Go to Roads Menu → Horizontal Alignment:

   • A panel opens on the right.

   • 

   • Choose between:

     • Unused: Dyyyy.

     • Locate: Dddddd.

     • Pick: Draw a new centerline directly.

     • Select: Press enter and choose an existing polyline from the drawing.

5. Finalize the Centerline:

   • After drawing or selecting, press Enter, then OK, then Apply.

   • A window will apear on the drawing with options:

   • 

   • You will choose which parameters you want to see on the road and press ok

   • Press close

Post-Alignment Updates

6. DWG View:

   • Centerline turns red.

   • Flags appear at curves/junctions.

   • Sections are shown at defined intervals.

7. Right Panel Table:

   • Lists IP (Intersection Points).

8. Bottom Coordinates Table:

   • Displays newly added points.

9. Use this to control:

   • Section spacing

   • Curve Radius

   • Section format

   • And more customization options.

1.   Read center line from file: Will copy the data from *.dis or *.xml files

2.   Save to landxml: Save your data to *.xml files

3.   Erase corrent IP: Stand on a line at the table and press to erase a single line

4.   Clear all IP’s: Will erase all lines of the ip’s table
